I wrote this song in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Amidst all the destruction I thought there must be some new beginnings. I imagined two people being thrown together by circumstance and falling in love, finally hopeful despite the hopeless prospect.

We found each other in the darkness
Underneath a captive sun
The dozen hours of the longest night
Thirty million stars dying one by one
The power's out and the candle's gone
Desire was our only light
Sometimes you know I thought the day would never come
When I could make good all my wrongs with rights
