Rolling Away Blues

from Flood Waters EP by Jeremy Hatch

/

about

Just a good old-fashioned country blues song, heavily inspired by Doc Watson. Based on the changes to "Crow Jane." I thought, wouldn't it be nice to have a love song instead of a murder ballad?

lyrics

Oh darling why don't you stay?
And why you hurrying to roll away?
I want to keep you by my side another day

Well if I had a hundred dollars
I'd meet you at that old Greyhound
I'd take that bus with you right out of town

Out of town, out of town
why you hurrying to roll away?
I want to keep you by my side another day

Well if the river ran dry tomorrow
You wouldn't miss that water long
You'd hide away with me til the storms

Until the thunder rolled across the plains
You'd do no hurrying to roll away,
You'd want to stay here by my side another day

Well if the sun went out tomorrow
You wouldn't miss that sunshine long
You'd hide away with me until the dawn

Until the sun choose to rise again
You'd do no hurrying to roll away,
You'd want to stay here by my side another day

Well if I had a hundred dollars
I'd meet you at that old Greyhound
I'd take that bus with you right out of town

So darling why don't you stay?
Why you hurrying to roll away?
I want to keep you by my side another day

I want to keep you by my side another day
